Israel's elders are concerned about the future of the nation, and they go to Samuel, asking him to appoint a king to lead them. Rather than consulting with God about His plans, Israel chooses their own plans for the future. As believers in Christ, we have the option of making our own plans or consulting with God on His best plan. The choice may seem like a no-brainer, but we often choose the same path as Israel.
