In the last few weeks, Jesus' ministry has proven to be a complete upheaval of everything the Jewish leaders thought it should be. In this week's installment of our study through the book of Luke, Jesus chooses from among his closest followers 12 men that he commissions to represent him as "apostles." His choices continue to confound the religious leaders of the day, as they include former tax collectors, fishermen and the like—not exactly the type of men they expect a respected rabbi to invest in. After choosing the 12, Jesus begins to teach the revolutionary message of what God's perspective is on poverty, hunger, weeping and having others speak ill of you...
