Saul's decline as king of Israel comes to its brutal conclusion. Saul is given a very specific task by God himself, aimed at wiping out a cancer in the land. When he fails to fulfill the command—but instead seeks to build up his own kingdom, wealth and reputation—God passes final judgment on Saul's kingship.
