The beginning of 1 Samuel culminates in chapter 4. God metes out the justice and judgment he has promised throughout the beginning of the book. The rebellion of Israel and its leaders, and the gravity of the situation may be something that Eli and the elders of Israel would have rather ignored; but it's time to call it what it is. And God does just that. Likewise we better ask ourselves: Is there rebellion in my life that I am ignoring? Am I burying my head in the sand and hoping for the best?
