Mediocrity is not an option, if you want to be a disciple of Jesus Christ's. Salvation is easy for the believer, because of the incredibly difficult and sacrificial work of God on our behalf. But then God calls us to a sacrificial life of imitating and emulating our master. In this text, Jesus explains to his disciples what a life of denying oneself, taking up one's cross daily and following Him looks like... and the incredible rewards that exist for the self-sacrificing disciple both today and in eternity! In your life, be all that you can be!

Jesus is the promised Messiah. His actions and his teaching both attested to that reality. In this passage, we see His love for people as He feeds 5000. He also predicts that way that He would suffer and die for the sake of mankind. Just as Peter grasped Jesus' identity, we too must grapple with His identity as both God and man--the only One who can redeem our broken relationships with God.

The natural response to being given irresistable grace is to respond with grace, love and worship in return. Through the story of the "sinful woman" who washed Jesus' feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair, we see the beautiful response of a sinner who has been forgiven. What will your response be?
