Sunday Dec 16, 2012
Saul comes face to face with a superior fighting force from Philistia and is commanded to obey and wait for Samuel in Gilgal. Instead, he caves under pressure and chooses to rely on himself, rather than God for deliverance. When we face pressure in our lives we have a choice between obedience and disobedience. If we are to be Godly leaders, our choice is obedience.

Repent, Renew, Repeat - Audio

Sunday Dec 09, 2012
As Samuel nears the end of his leadership of Israel and Saul begins his prominence as newly appointed King, Samuel gives a powerful farewell speech. While God will continue his faithfulness to Israel, based on his character, Samuel reminds Israel that sin has destructive consequences. God loves them enough to discipline them. By reflecting on the "state of the nation", Samuel appeals to Israel to REPENT of their sin, and RENEW God's place as their divine king. This process is necessary in the life of the modern-day disciple, too! If we are to truly have the life that God desires for us, we must constantly be on the lookout for sin in our lives! When we see it we must REPENT—literally change our mind—RENEW—put the Lord God in his rightful place as King of our life—and REPEAT this process as necessary. When we continue on this path, we can truly be more and more like Jesus every day. Repent, Renew, Repeat.

What are Your Plans for the Future? - Video
Sunday Nov 25, 2012
Sunday Nov 25, 2012
Israel's elders are concerned about the future of the nation, and they go to Samuel, asking him to appoint a king to lead them. Rather than consulting with God about His plans, Israel chooses their own plans for the future. As believers in Christ, we have the option of making our own plans or consulting with God on His best plan. The choice may seem like a no-brainer, but we often choose the same path as Israel.

Credit Where Credit’s Due - Video
Sunday Nov 11, 2012
Sunday Nov 11, 2012
Israel finally returns to God after the ark is returned, but as they are repenting, their enemies the Philistines surround them. Rather than quitting or trying to win themselves, they ask Samuel to pray for them and God shows up in a big (and loud) way. The Philistines are defeated and Samuel sets up a stone and names it Ebenezer (“stone of [God’s] help”). Israel takes credit for their sin and gives credit to God for His work.
